7900GT just got beat in Price/Performance
- Pros: Simply too many to list in 1000 characters. I run this card at 1360x768 on my HDTV, and it can max any game I've thrown at it, including Need for Speed Carbon and Oblivion (system hogs, NFSC for no apparent reason, Oblivion for great graphics), running at 40+ frames /sec. That's with ALL settings and 16X Quality AA with 16x AF. (C2D E6600, 2GB Corsair XMS2 DDR2-800, P5N-E SLI 650i chipset MB) All other games are with the same results, but games like WoW simply make this card laugh and aren't worth mentioning. Surprisingly cool compared to what others said, put out less heat than my Pentium 4 3.06 GHz in my laptop. Note: If buying for DirectX 10, this probably IS a good card, despite what others say. The reason these cards are currently failing in DX10 games are because the games were built in DX9 and patched to DX10, without being optimized. Crysis is said to run "quite nicely" on a 7900gt (albeit in DX9), though I have no concerns about how this card will perform in DX10 environmets.
- Cons: After a full 5 minutes of trying to think of ANY cons about this card. Any problems you may have can be tweaked with nTune and the nVidia Control Panel. This card is basically perfect.
- Other Thoughts: If you need high resolution gaming, get the 640mb. For people who don't run 30" XHD displays at 2560x1600, this card is definitely adequate. Also, on my Sceptre HDTV I had a bit of a problem with Resolutions, the TV kept accepting the 1360x768 as 1920x1080 (interlaced), and scaling it down. If you have similar problems, download nTune and open the nVidia Control Panel, and go to Display -> Manage Custom Resolutions. Type in the proper resolution, the max refresh rate of your TV/Monitor (mine was 60), and bits per pixel (mine worked as 32). If that doesn't work, tweak the advanced settings until it does. For games that use AA + HDR, just set AA in nTune to override the application preferences. Then enable HDR in the games. nTune enables AA while the game enables HDR. This works in Oblivion, for example. The following parts are all compatible and fit with eachother: Core 2 Duo E6600, ASUS P5N-E SLi Mobo, Zalman CNPS9700, 8800GTS, Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty, Cooler Master Centurion 5 case.
Awesome card
- Pros: Tremendous performance. Great overclocker. Very cool (51 degrees at idle. 56 degrees at load with 12% overclock). Fan is really quiet and has never spun up to full speed. Heat sink from back was warm-to-touch, so the card was indeed cool.
- Cons: None at all. Best card that's been released in years.
- Other Thoughts: I would say that this is an awesome card for the price, but I don't want to downplay the quality by scaling it to the price. This card is simply a beast. If you're considering an X1950XT, you're MUCH better off spending the extra $50 to get this card; especially if you're an overclocker. Pound-for-pound, this card pummels the X1950, plus it has hardware support for DX10 (Vista). The 8800 overclocks MUCH better than the XT. You can't squeeze much out of the XT, since they're clocked close to their max at factory. I was able to overclock this to 1.9 GHz mem/675 core. I got a 15,500 3dmark'05 and a 10,500 3dmark'05 on an E6400@2.93. Get this card. It's sick.

Good Card for the $$$
- Pros: Great card for the money. Good entry level card to higher end graphics.
- Cons: If you didnt know these cards are BIG. They take up 2 SLI slots. They get hot, make sure your case has good airflow.
- Other Thoughts: Other cards are better, but if you want a good card and not break the bank this one is not bad.
- Pros: none
- Cons: DOA
the card is extremely big but it fit into the pci as expected.
Cheap and excellent
- Pros: Assuming I get my rebate check, this is a great card for the money. I'm no gamer but I did download Crysis and COD4 demos. Crysis will run out of memory on the highest settings but tweaked back it runs very smooth. COD4 is just great. This is on XP.
- Cons: The fan is kind of loud. In fact its the loudest fan in my box. I'll have to try the tuner.
- Other Thoughts: It's big and fat. The quality of the construction is very good. No Mr. Fancy pants stickers on the cover. If you life revolves around the latest games get the bigger one.
